Appeals Court Thwarts IRS on Preparers

A U.S. appeals court on Feb. 11 upheld a lower court ruling that told the IRS it could not regulate tax-return preparers, according to a report in Reuters. In a unanimous ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia said the Service's authority could not be stretched to regulate tax preparers.
